Mary Lynn Norrie

Mary Lynn Norrie was born January 27, 1953 and died May 16, 2020. In the last few years of life complicated ailments impacted but did not defeat her wish to lead a simple life, lived in God’s Grace. She was blessed with family, friends, pets, books, helping others, curiosity and learning.

Raised by Depression Era parents of Scandinavian ancestry, stoicism, frugality, practicality, and perseverance marched into her life early, saying “fight the good fight”, “bloom where you grow”, “save for a rainy day”, “be thankful for what you have, it could be worse.” Mary had a dry sense of humor and was probably too serious for her own good. She was loyal and gave others the benefit of the doubt. Conventional in her choices she could swim against the stream, if necessary, even if the waves were sure to be high.

She was preceded in death by parents John and Mary Lynn Blondell and nephew Timothy Truax. Mary is survived by her beloved family: loving husband of 20 years, Ken Norrie, sons Aaron (Rochelle) Smith and Matthew (Michelle) Smith, step-son Nathan Norrie, grandchildren Ayden, Vivian, Roman, and Jury. Her siblings also survive her: Mark (Nancy) Blondell, Nancy (Ty) Truax, Linda (Craig) Vonch, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A memorial service and inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorials can be directed to Seasons Hospice, 1696 Greenview Dr SW, Rochester MN 55902.
